July 26th, 2010Fake notes discovered in RBI treasury, Jaipur
A complaint has been logded with the police by Reserve Bank of India officials in Jaipur regarding fake currency worth Rs 5.43 lakh found in the treasury. The regional manager of RBI said that the case came into light while counting the notes.
As per police statement, regional manager L N Sharma stated in the complaint that the notes came from different bank sources and money exchange counters in the state in the last six months tenor.
He said that the RBI found out the notes only when they were being counted by the accountants.
“The currency notes include 51 notes in the domination of Rs 1,000, 615 notes in the domination of Rs 500, 1,707 notes in the domination of Rs 100, 91 notes in the domination of Rs 50 and three notes in the domination of Rs 20,” said a police officer.
This FIR stands as the second by RBI in the last four months.
